Frog Bikes Launches Lightweight Range

Posted on in Brands & Products News , Cycles News by Frog Bikes

Newly launched kids' bike brand, Frog Bikes, is a small British company who have created a selection of nine lightweight all-aluminium kids' bikes for sale through independent bike stores.

The team at Frog have hand-picked high quality, child-specific components including Tektro brakes and Shimano gears, and offer each of the models in four bright colours. Ranging from the Tadpole balance bike at 4kg, through to the Frog 73 with a 16" frame at just 10kg, the bikes are suitable for children aged approximately 2 - 14 years. There is also a mountain bike with front suspension for those after an off-road adventure.

Frog Bikes aims to forge strong links with independent bike stores by offering generous trade discounts, and is running a competition until the end of March whereby the store that orders the most Frog Bikes will win a GoPro Hero 3 helmet cam. The company is actively encouraging their online customers to go to a local bike store: they offer free delivery if a customer has their bike delivered to their local store and will pay the store a fee for handling the bike.

Frog believe that the lighter the bike, the easier it is for children to learn to ride. Shelley Lawson, director of Frog Bikes said: "Through speaking to other parents and taking a look at what was already out there, we found that in many cases a child's bike could weigh almost as much as the child! We believe that cycling should be fun for kids, so wanted to create a range of bikes that would provide an exciting - and manageable - companion for smaller riders."

While the guide age range for Frog Bikes is 2 - 14 years, each of the bikes is named according to the minimum size of the child riding it. Here, the company has taken a new approach to sizing so that the child is matched to a bike according to their inside leg measurement as this is a better guide than age or height. For example, a Frog 52 is for riders with a minimum inside leg of 52cm.

Priced competitively for their impressive list of componentry, Frog Bikes are an appealing option for parents in an otherwise confusing market. Once a purchase is made, parents will appreciate the standard two-year warranty on the frame, forks, components and paintwork of all models. Customers can also upgrade to a free five-year warranty on frame and forks.

Frog Bikes recently showcased their range at the Bike and Triathlon Show in Manchester, with the bikes available for testing in the Kids' Zone.
