Job Description

Lifecycles have been established over 10 years now, gradually building up the client base and range of services as the cycling world has evolved. We take care of a range of bikes from kids bikes up to exotic custom builds, electric bikes, disability bikes, bikes for professional athletes, there really is no limit! Whilst other stores have come and gone, Lifecycles are here to stay!

Lifecycles started as a specialist workshop based business, specialising in repairs, servicing and custom builds. We have recently secured Trek as our main bike brand resulting in an increased increased bike sales and servicing. We are a Shimano Service Centre, Campagnolo Pro Shop and SRAM Tech Centre. We are a Bosch Partner Store and carry out work on a cariety of e-bike systems including Mahle, Sportsdrive, Bafang, Suntour, Yamaha and Brose.

We are looking for mechanics at varying levels of experience, we have the following opportunities on offer:

Apprentice Bike Mechanic

Experienced Bike Mechanic

Workshop Manager

Please apply if you are interested - we will consider each application fairly and can provide training as required. We do need experienced and apprentice mechanics so don't be shy!

An experienced mechanic would typically be competent in the following areas and be expected to carry out these tasks with little or no supervision:

1. Bike servicing including gears, brakes, wheel trueing, hubs/headset/bottom bracket servicing

2. Bike checking for preparing quotes and faults diagnosis

3. Shimano Di2 installation and firmware updates

4. Wheel building

5. Replacing pressfit bearings in frames, headsets, hubs etc

6. Internal cable routing for gears and hydraulic hose

7. Keeping in contact with customers and shop staff as necessary

8. Manage tools and replacing or renewing tools as necessary

9. Build new bikes for sale or for display

10. Housekeeping of workshop

In addition to the duties above, a Workshop Manager will also:

1. Lead a team of qualified technicians to grow the workshop business

2. Maintain workshop stock and consumables to ensure continuity and efficient progression of work

3. Train and manage less experienced staff and offer mentoring throughout any Cytech qualifications

4. Analyse and amend processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and profitabilty

5. Report to the Shop Manager regarding staff, quality, budget and profitability requirements

Mechanics do not normally have a customer facing role but under extremely busy conditions may be required to help with serving customers

If you are confident in carrying out some or all of these tasks then we want to hear from you!

Skills/Experience Required

You must have worked in the cycling industry - in a workshop capacity. If you are seeking a role specifically in the workshop - you must have minimum of Cytech level 2 or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate a high level of competence and attention to detail across a range of different bikes and systems. We will also consider apprenticeships.

We require professional and committed team players to join us. We have invested heavily into the premises and workshop, which allow us to have 4 live workstations; each mechanic that will manage their own stand and tools. Lifecycles have continued to grow year on year follwing the Covid bike-boom and continue to service and repair over 100 bikes per week - If you think you have what it takes to deliver work to a high standard in a fast paced environment then we would love to hear from you!

We offer competitive salary, quarterly and individual bonus, staff purchase scheme, frwee coffee from our barista all day long, and a great place to work in our destination store!
