Job Description

Pankhurst Cycles in Pangbourne, Berkshire is recruiting for 2 new bike mechanics to work full time on its busy workshop.

Your role will be to complete all services that are booked into your schedule. You will be scheduled to complete 3 services per working day. During the day there are always other tasks that you’ll be getting involved with – serving customers, answering the phone, booking in bikes to be serviced etc. At Pankhurst Cycles, we deal with all kinds of bikes – from a child’s first bike, to a professional cyclist’s race bike, to someone’s commuting bike.  

We also sell all kinds of bikes, so we have a big showroom with many models/styles of bike. We sell parts and accessories too, and from time to time, you will be talking to customers about these areas.

We’re looking for a Cytec level 3 qualified mechanic, and we would like you to have had a good level of experience working in a bike shop/workshop.

You will be paid £25,000 per year and receive 28 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays). You will work from Monday to Saturday with 1 day off during the week. We’re closed on Sundays.

Tasks specific to the role

  • Servicing 3 bikes per day
  • Completing maintenance work as per your schedule
  • Answering the phone when required
  • Use of the POS system to correctly apply all chargeable items to each customer’s final bill of sale
  • Use of the POS system to process customer transactions in general
  • Ensuring you highlight any low stock or out of stock items to the relevant person
  • Cleaning and tiding as required
  • Attending to additional tasks as required by your manager.

Skills/Experience Required

We’re looking for a Cytec level 3 qualified mechanic, and we would like you to have had a good level of experience working in a bike shop/workshop.
