The Quest for bike rides begins with Social Cycling Groups

Posted on in Cycles News

Quest Adventure Bike Shop in Worthing, West Sussex has been organising free mixed mountain bike rides since it opened in 2006. Then one day, a female customer suggested that they start organising women's only mountain bike rides as well, so that ladies could have the chance to ride and catch up on gossip.

With this in mind Janet and JP, owners of Quest Adventure Bike Shop started using Social Cycling Groups as a way of organising and promoting their free rides. They now run two free, guided mountain bike rides a month, one being exclusively for women.

"As a bike shop Social Cycling Groups is great for us because not everyone will know about the area or that Quest is even here. It's perfect for people who want to find out more information about our rides. Since we started using Social Cycling Groups we've had riders coming from as far as London to join our rides. It has boosted our numbers massively" says Janet.

The group explore the beautiful South Downs riding everything from good size bridleways to single track, returning from rides muddy and wet, but with that positive feeling that they've thoroughly enjoyed themselves. One of the best things about a Quest Adventure group ride is that they usually include with a cake stop!

Janet and regular attendee Claire work hard to promote the rides via Facebook and Twitter, Social Cycling Groups has provided them with another great outlet to promote their rides and the results speak for themselves. The new women's only mountain bike rides started out with six participants and that has now jumped up to 12 - 15 ladies regularly riding together.

Quest Adventure host three Saturday bike rides a month; a women's only mountain bike ride, a women's only road ride and a mixed mountain bike ride.
