OPSS translates e-bike safety videos to improve accessibility

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has translated its e-bike and e-scooter safety guidance videos into multiple languages to improve accessibility for delivery riders and other consumers.

E-bike Accessibility OPSS

This initiative aims to enhance safety awareness among frequent e-bike users, particularly food delivery riders, who may face risks associated with improper use or unsafe products. By translating the videos, OPSS hopes to ensure that critical safety advice reaches as many riders as possible.

Following discussions with food delivery businesses, OPSS identified key languages spoken by riders and has translated the videos into Arabic, Urdu, Romanian, and Portuguese, including Brazilian Portuguese.

The move has been welcomed by the ACT, which states that recognising these groups and making safety information more accessible to them is a positive step. The E-bike Positive campaign, launched in part by the association, continues to highlight the benefits of e-bikes, as well as the importance of differentiating between unsafe, unregulated products and those that meet safety standards.

The campaign has recently distributed resources to businesses that have signed up to the pledge.

Businesses can download campaign assets, including an email footer, from the link here.
