Woom expands into UK with successful kid's bike range

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

Austrian kid's bike brand, Woom has entered the UK market. Having had success in 30 other countries and sales of over 1 million units, Woom bikes will be distributed by UK trade partners online and in-stores.

In early 2023, Hong Kong investor Jebsen Group stepped into the Austrian kids’ bike manufacturer to facilitate expansion in existing and new markets. Having previously focused on German-speaking countries and the US, the UK with its large children’s bike market was a logical move.

Founded in 2013 by Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, Woom disrupted the children’s bike market and set a new standard with its innovative design. In just over ten years, the brand has risen from being an insider tip to the market leader domestically, where every second newly purchased children's bike is a Woom bike. The company also has a strong market share in Germany, where one in four newly purchased children's bikes is a Woom bike. Woom bikes are now available in 30 countries worldwide.

“We are incredibly excited to announce our expansion into the UK market. With the UK’s rich cycling culture and heritage, as well as an increasing emphasis on sustainable transportation, we aim to put the fun back into cycling and provide British parents with the reassurance that they can do that safely with woom,” explains Paul Fattinger, CEO of Woom.

“As a brand built on personal experience, we strive to set the new standards for premium children’s bikes in the UK, and we’ll be working with our retail partners to get the word out there.”

woom bikes will be distributed by trade partners online and in-store as well as direct to consumer via woom’s new UK website.
