Devon Police offer free security mark for bicycles

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

People will be able to have their bikes security marked in Devon as part of a scheme to keep cyclists safe.

Cycle crime

Neighbourhood police teams will be available on several dates over the summer to mark people's bikes. Security markings mean if someone is caught with a stolen bike, it will be registered, and the owner can be traced.

Sgt Rob Brown, from Devon and Cornwall Police, said it "is a benefit we like to offer cyclists in the area to help keep them safe".

“We want to give the public plenty of opportunities to come and meet us face to face and have a chat or raise any concerns about any subject they may have.

"If we can’t help, we can point them in the direction of someone who can.

"Anyone can drop by and discuss any policing issues they may have or pick up some crime prevention advice.”

Neighbourhood police teams will be South Molton between 09:00 and 13:00 BST on Saturday, 6 June, 22 June, 18 July, 1 August, 17 August, 14 September and 26 September

Police in the area previously offered the free service after Christmas to try to prevent theft.
