ACT member to hold cycling festival in the lead-up to Cycling World Championships

ACT member BikeTown in Rutherglen is to hold a cycling festival in the lead-up to the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Cuningar Cycling Festival

The festival will be held on Saturday, August 5 and will follow BikeTown’s two previous successful events in May.

The August cycling extravaganza will be in the build-up to the biggest cycling event ever and will feature a wide range of activities, such as bike games, cycle lessons, scavenger hunts, circus skills, face painting, balloon modelling, glitter tattoos, and music from CamGlen Radio, amongst much more.

Jim Ewing, Senior Team Leader for Bike Town, said: “We’d love everyone from the local community and beyond to come along and join in some fantastic festival fun.”

Fiona McLean, Community Growth Project Manager for Clyde Gateway, added: “At Clyde Gateway, we are thrilled to extend our wholehearted support to this upcoming community cycling festival in the lead-up to the highly anticipated World Cycling Championships in Glasgow.

“By supporting this festival, we aim to encourage more people to embrace cycling as a daily activity, promoting a greener community”.

This Cuningar Cycling Festival will be held on the Saturday from 11am to 3pm at Cuningar Loop, Downiebrae Road, Rutherglen, G73 1PW and if you cycle to the event or bring your bike along, you’ll receive a free goodie bag.
