Huge increase in e-bike sales expected

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

EbikeHalfords have predicted the sale of 1.5 million e-bikes by 2050 in the UK as reported by Bike Europe.

More and more people are discovering the health and environmental benefits of e-bikes and the popularity over cars is increasing. Currently, London is the largest market with almost half a million units sold, however, Liverpool, Belfast, Bristol and Birmingham are also viewed as important markets for e-bikes sales.

The e-bike market is forecasted to grow further across the UK competing with the car for short distances.

Independent retailers have a unique strength over companies like Halfords, the specialist service and products available coupled with the quality and attention for detail. Selling and maintaining e-bikes could open another avenue for bike shops bringing in another demographic of customers. As an IBD, why not get a slice of the pie?

The ACT have put together a series of helpful guidance to make sure that retailers are well informed when it comes to selling and servicing e-bikes.

Furthermore, if you are a bicycle dealer, sales staff or technician looking to stock, sell and repair e-bikes the Cytech technical e-bike course is designed to help prepare businesses for the predicted rise in e-bike maintenance in the coming years. The course has recently been amended making it a three day technical e-bike course. Find out more here.

Ride it away retail finance provides the ideal solution to sell higher priced items such as e-bikes as the maximum loan amount is £15,000, allowing customers to spread the cost of a new bicycle, clothing and accessories without saving for months.

Did you know, 75% of customers make their decision on where to shop based on whether interest free credit is easily available (Mintel).
