Bicycle manufacturers expect sales boost from Olympic Games halo effect

Bicycle manufacturers say they are optimistic about the bike industry’s growth prospects, anticipating a boost in sales – supported by a ‘positive impulse’ from the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

A statement from Taiwanese bicycle manufacturers ahead of Eurobike 2024 said:

‘The excitement surrounding the Olympic cycling events is expected to drive demand for high-quality bicycles, bolstering market confidence.

‘Sales of electric bicycles and premium models from Taiwan are already outpacing those in the mid and lower price segments. This trend is likely to strengthen, particularly as the 2024 Olympic Games are being celebrated as the most sustainable Games ever. Authorities are encouraging local spectators to use public transport or bicycles to attend the events, further enhancing the positive outlook for the industry. This underlines the sector’s resilience and innovative capabilities.

‘Following a boom during the coronavirus pandemic, the bicycle market faced challenges that have carried over into the current year. However, the optimistic forecast for the Taiwanese bicycle industry offers renewed hope for market recovery.’
