Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme launched today

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

Theworkshop survey 2008 Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme works with bike shops across the country to provide free bike repair and maintenance to those who need it most right now.

The scheme was announced today by Patrick Harvie (MSP, Minister for Zero Carbon Buildings, Active Travel and Tenants' Rights) at the Cycling Scotland Conference.

The scheme is principally the same as the previous time it was launched, whereby members of the public can contact a bike repair organisation, ask for a repair under the scheme and then access up to £50 of maintenance/repair work which will be covered by the scheme.

For non-standard cycles (e.g. trikes, tandems, recumbents, cargo bikes. Excluding standard upright e-bikes) customers can access up to £100 of maintenance/repair work.

The scheme is part of the Scottish Government's response to the coronavirus pandemic and the need to provide more options to the public for travel and transport. A total of 20,000 repairs will be available across Scotland. The scheme is funded by the Scottish Government and is administered by Cycling UK.

The scheme started in November 2021. Bike shops will be able to offer this service up until 31 May 2022. Each bike shop will determine when they finish offering this scheme, depending on when they have utilised all their grant money.

You can apply for £2,000 initially, unless advised otherwise by Cycling UK. Further grant applications will be at the discretion of Cycling UK.
