On Monday 12th March the APPCG and the Cycle to Work Alliance will be holding an e-bike event in Westminster.
As members of the UK cycling alliance, the ACT invite members to join the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group (APPCG) throughout the year for cycle related meetings and events.
The next event will be focused on how the UK can seize the electric bike opportunity, increase the number of people using electric bikes, expand the health benefits of cycling, and open cycling to new demographics.
Run by the APPCG and the Cycle to Work Alliance, the event will generate discussion from senior policy makers and members of industry over the benefits of electric bikes including:
- Which demographics will benefit from improving access to, and the affordability of, electric bikes?
- What policy action is necessary to stimulate the electric bike market, open up access and increase uptake?
- What measures can industry and the cycling community take to make the most of this opportunity?
- What existing or potential mechanisms are in place to encourage take up?
- What lessons can be learnt from other countries?
Chair of the Cycling APPG Ruth Cadbury MP will be joined for this discussion by:
- Steve Edgell, Director of Cycle Solutions and Chair of the Cycle to Work Alliance;
- Will Butler-Adams, Chief Executive Officer of Brompton Bicycle Ltd;
- Laura Dyett, Senior Project Manager for Behavioural Change at Transport for London.
Following the event, attendees are invited to attend an electric bike demonstration on Birdcage Walk, Westminster, SW1E 6HQ. This is your chance to try out an electric bike and experience the benefits yourself.
The panel discussion will take place from 3:45pm - 4:30pm on Monday 12th March 2018, in Commitee Room 15, House of Commons, with the practical demonstration from 4:30pm-5:00pm on Birdcage Walk, Westminster, SW1E 6HQ. Non-parliamentary guests are reminded to arrive 15 minutes early to get through security.
