Write to your MP ahead of Chancellor's Autumn Statement

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News , Political News

IndependeUK shopsnt retailers are urged to write to their MPs ahead of the Chancellor's Autumn Statement, which is expected to include a review of business rates.

Rishi Sunak's statement is expected to be made on October 27, 2021, and will set out the state of the nation's finances for at least the next six months before the spring Budget next March.

Independent Retailers Confederation (IRC) member BIRA have created a template letter for you to cut and paste, and amend with your personal details before posting, or emailing it to your MP.

IRC iconThe Independent Retailers Confederation (IRC) is a well-established organisation that brings together like-minded trade associations with interests in the small and independent retail sector. It currently represents c.100,000 independent retailers throughout the UK and provides a lobbying platform for increasing the profile and voice of independent retailing within Government and Parliament. The ACT and ActSmart are key members of the IRC to represent their members.

The IRC have a duty to attempt to reduce business rates and reduce the burden on retail. Businesses are likely to struggle with the re-introduction of full rates net year and it is important for us to communicate this message to as many MPs and government ministers as possible.

Therefore, we are urging the wider independent retail sector to contact their MPs to express their concerns
