The UK takes to the polls

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News , Political News

The UK general election is happening today on the 12th December 2019.

Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm, with the election being described by BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith as "one of the most seismic elections many of us will know in our lifetimes".

Friday morning will reveal whether there is a clear winner or hung parliament, as many experts predict, but there will be an exit poll at around 10pm on Thursday. The Guardian reports that, since 1997, exit polls have been fairly representative of the final result.

For some last minute guidance, various articles have been compiled by the ACT, CyclingIndustry.News and The Guardian among others that clarify exactly how each political party's manifestos intend on improving cycling infrastructure.

The BBC have also created an overview of what the UK election result could possibly mean for exchange rates and the wider economy, depending on the outcome.
