Job Description

We are a long‑established and busy bike shop selling high‑quality bikes, accessories, and providing a full range of workshop services. Alongside the shop, we organise renowned downhill races and uplift days, making us a central hub for riders across the region. At Pearce Cycles, we pride ourselves on delivering the very best customer service. It is the backbone of our business and central to the trust we’ve built with riders over decades. Because of this, the successful applicant must understand the importance of excellent customer relationships.

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for cycling who is a motivated and  highly skilled mechanic to join our workshop team — someone who leads by example and takes genuine pride in their craft. You’ll be the technical lead of the workshop, handling everything from full services to complex diagnostics and high‑precision builds. We value high standards of workmanship, excellent attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and a clean, organised workshop.

Skills/Experience Required

Key Responsibilities

Workshop & Technical Duties

  • Carry out full services, safety checks, and PDI on a wide range of bikes (MTB, road, e‑bike).
  • Assemble and prepare new bikes for sale, including high‑end and bespoke builds.
  • Perform advanced technical work such as wheel builds, hydraulic brake bleeding, suspension servicing, and Di2/AXS electronic drivetrain setup.
  • Diagnose and repair e‑bike motor systems (Bosch, Shimano, etc.).
  • Work to exceptionally high standards of accuracy and detail.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised workspace.

Workshop Leadership & Organisation

  • Help manage workshop flow to ensure efficient turnaround of repairs.
  • Assist with parts ordering, stock checks, and warranty processes when required.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about repair status and technical issues in an approachable, jargon‑free way.

Customer Support & Shop Duties

  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service both in-store and over the phone.
  • Support general shop sales during busy periods.
  • Book in workshop repairs accurately and professionally.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A genuine passion for cycling.
  • Cytech Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a professional workshop environment.
  • Strong commitment to quality workmanship, precision, and attention to detail.
  • Confident using e‑bike diagnostic software and handling high‑voltage components.
  • Excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of good customer relationship practice.
  • Computer literate using Microsoft software and confident using retail or workshop systems.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary based on experience (£21,000 – £30,000).
  • Staff discount on bikes, parts, and gear.
  • Access to the latest tools, technology, and a modern, well‑equipped workshop.
  • Paid training and opportunities to gain further certifications.
