Job Description
The Cycle Hub is a busy, service-led independent bike shop based in Queensferry, near Chester. Our workshop supports a wide range of bikes including road, MTB, gravel and e-bikes.
We are looking for a trainee mechanic who has recently completed Cytech Level 2, or is close to completing it, and wants to gain real experience in a professional workshop environment.
This role is designed to help bridge the gap between training and becoming a confident, capable workshop mechanic.
Working alongside experienced mechanics, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of servicing, repair and diagnostic work across different types of bikes.
Typical responsibilities include:
• Assisting with bike builds and PDIs
• Supporting servicing and setup work
• Helping maintain workshop organisation and workflow
• Developing diagnostic and repair skills
• Building speed, accuracy and good workshop discipline
This is a hands-on role in a live commercial workshop, not a classroom environment.
The role may begin with part-time or limited hours, with the opportunity to develop into a permanent mechanic position for the right individual.
Skills/Experience Required
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, practical and serious about developing as a bicycle mechanic.
Ideal candidates will have:
• Cytech Level 2 qualification (completed or in progress)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
• Good reliability and workshop discipline
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• An interest in cycling and the cycling industry
This role would suit someone looking to build experience in a busy workshop and develop into a professional mechanic.
