Fix Your Bike Voucher Scheme - Application Portal Launched

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

The Department for Transport (DfT) have now launched the application portal for the Fix Your Bike Voucher Scheme and have asked the ACT to communicate it with our members.

If you are a mechanic or have a cycle repair business and would like to participate in the scheme as a cycle repairer you can now apply. If you have any questions in relation to the scheme please contact the Energy Savings Trust:

Telephone: 0808 108 9414

Email: fixyourbike@est.org.uk

Eligibility

Bike repairers must meet certain eligibility criteria including the possession of valid public liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2 million. The scheme is currently only available to organisations registered in England .

A full list of terms and conditions and eligibility criteria can be found here.

The voucher scheme is NOT open to the public yet. The scheme will be launched for customer applications shortly, we will notify you when this goes live.

How the scheme works

The process will be the following:

  • The bike owner will find a registered bike mechanic to fix their bike. A map of participating bike shops and mechanics will be available on the Energy Saving Trust website when the scheme launches to the public.
  • The bike owner applies for a voucher.
  • They bring their bike in to be fixed, using the voucher towards the cost.
  • You can then claim the cost of the discount (up to £50 per bike) back through the Energy Saving Trust website.
  • The Energy Saving Trust will repay you.

How to register

1. Go to https://fixyourbikevoucherscheme.est.org.uk/
2. Click the "Register as a Repairer" button
3. Fill out your details and upload a PDF of your insurance document
4. Create a password

Further information

More information about the scheme can be found on the government website here.

Answers to some FAQs and a detailed diagram of how to register can be found on the DfT issued document here.

The ACT have been working alongside the BA to support the DfT with the development of this scheme on a very short timescale following the Ministerial announcement on the 23rd May.

Both the ACT and BA have expressed industry concerns to the DfT about the current status of workshop capacity - many shops/repairers are already flat out on repairs, with waiting lists - and this aspect is being monitored closely.
