London Cycling Campaign Webinar - London in lockdown

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

London has changed beyond recognition during the Covid-19 crisis. Lockdown has closed schools and left the majority of Londoners only leaving the house for essential journeys or their daily exercise.

At the same time, key workers are still doing their usual commutes. So how do we make sure that people who are out walking and cycling are kept safe? And when we transition out of lockdown, how do we enable those who have discovered cycling to keep at it, and ensure the traffic we faced before, with its many impacts on our lives, don't return (or exceed) pre lockdown levels?

The webinar will take place Friday 1st May 2020 11:30am - 12:30pm and will cover:

  1. The public health benefits for supporting walking and cycling now and post lockdown, with Dr Rachel Aldred, Reader in Transport at the University of Westminster.
  2. How other cities around the world are stepping up to this challenge, and what the mayor and boroughs can be doing now, with Simon Munk, LCC's Infrastructure Campaigner
  3. How Brighton has closed certain roads in response to covid-19, and the legislative hurdles councils need to take on, with (TBC) Mark Strong, Managing Consultant, Transport Initiatives
  4. How we transition out of lockdown towards a thriving, low carbon, low pollution city, with Fran Graham, LCC's Campaigns Coordinator
