Cytech training provider Spokes People to deliver workshops at National Cycling Show 2024, opening next Saturday 15th June

Posted on in Cycles News , Outdoor News

Lee & Darren from Spokes People, one of Cytech's UK training providers, are attending the National Cycling Show next weekend and will be delivering various workshops and sessions for both experienced cyclists and first time tyre changers at the second edition of The Bike Clinic.

The clinic is your first stop for mechanical instruction and advice, with some sessions taking the form of hands on workshops with others featuring seminars, brand-specific demos and ask-anything sessions with professional cyclists, trainers and mechanics.

Schedule of sessions on both Saturday and Sunday:

  • 10:30 - 11:15: Emergency on the road fixes - learn the essential skills needed to handle any unexpected problems you may encounter on a ride. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just starting out, this workshop is great for anyone who wants to become more self-sufficient on the road.
  • 11:45 - 12:30: Q&A with a UCI World Cup Mechanic – Bike mechanics Q&A - Join us for a Q&A session with our expert bike mechanics. Get insights into the world of professional cycling maintenance, learn about the intricacies of bike tuning, and discover the behind-the-scenes of your local bike-shop and the action of keeping top athletes’ bikes in top condition.
  • 13:30 - 14:15: Preparing your bike for a long-distance/adventure ride - Hear about the essential steps and considerations for preparing your bike for a long-distance or multi-day ride. We covered topics such as inspecting and maintaining the bike’s components, ensuring proper tire pressure, packing essential repair tools and spare parts, and optimizing bike fit for comfort during long rides.
  • 14:45 - 15:15: Gear alignment demo - During this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to identify common gear issues, such as slipping or skipping gears, and how to properly adjust cable tension, limit screws, and derailleur position to fix them. You will also learn how to diagnose more complex gear issues, such as bent derailleur hangers, and how to replace damaged parts.
