ACT announces partnership with new insurance provider, Bikmo

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

Bikmo, a leading cycling insurtech, and the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT), the UK’s largest and most established cycle trade membership organisation, have announced they are entering a new three-year partnership.

Bikmo ACT

The partnership represents a major milestone for Bikmo. The startup launched their commercial insurance services in 2021 and has insured hundreds of cycling businesses from independent retailers to a global food delivery company. Bikmo’s team focuses on developing specialist products with insurers that understand the cycling sector.

The partnership will enable Bikmo to extend its commercial insurance services to 4,000 businesses represented by the ACT including retailers, manufacturers and suppliers, hire centres and bike workshops.

From this week, ACT Gold member retailers will benefit from a 10% additional discount on their business insurance, and 5% for Silver members. This is offered on top of various discount rewards available for retailers that can demonstrate they are taking steps to manage their business risks effectively.

Both Bikmo and ACT share a deep commitment to supporting and enabling cycling businesses to thrive. The ACT, with over 100 years’ experience  of supporting independent businesses, sees this collaboration as an opportunity to further enhance the quality and value of the services available to its members at a time when the sector needs it most.

Rob Grisdale, Global Head of Partnerships at Bikmo said: “We are very excited to be working with the ACT to support their members with specialist insurance advice and cover. Insurance should be a reliable lifeline when the unexpected happens, but in recent years businesses are struggling to find cover without gaps or impracticable terms.

We feel a strong sense of duty to step up and make insurance work for, and not against, our industry cohort. The ACT, together with our trusted insurers, are perfect partners for this mission.”

Jonathan Harrison, Director at the ACT added: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Bikmo. The partnership represents a significant step forward in our mission to support and strengthen the cycling industry. By offering our members access to specialist insurance services that understand the unique challenges of our sector, we’re ensuring that they are better equipped to thrive.”
