Over 50 entries have been received so far, with 20+ industry partners backing the awards, marking a strong start to the inaugural event. The awards will recognise cycle retailers across the UK who champion active travel, support cyclists and keep local shops thriving.

Entries will be reviewed and shortlisted by an industry judging panel before progressing to a public vote, which runs from Friday 24th April to Thursday 30th April. Winners will be announced on Friday 1st May, ahead of Local Bike Shop Week which runs from 3rd to 9th May.

Jonathan Harrison, ACT Director, said: "We've been thrilled with the response to the Local Bike Shop Awards. The entries we've received so far showcase the incredible work independent bike shops are doing across the country, but we know there are many more brilliant retailers out there who deserve recognition. If you run a bike shop that goes the extra mile for your community, now is the time to enter. Don't miss this chance to be part of the first ever Local Bike Shop Awards."

Andrew Goodacre, CEO of ACT parent company Bira, and a member of the judging panel, said: "The strong level of support from both retailers and industry partners shows just how important it is to celebrate excellence in independent bike retail. These shops are vital to our high streets and communities, and the awards give us the perfect opportunity to recognise their hard work and dedication. With just days to go, I'd encourage any bike shop that hasn't yet entered to do so before the deadline."

The Local Bike Shop Week Awards form part of Local Bike Shop Week, an industry-wide initiative managed by the ACT. Local Bike Shop Week 2026 marks the expansion of what was previously a single-day celebration into a full week of activities showcasing independent cycle retailers.
