E-Bike Positive Trust Mark discussed at parliamentary cycling and walking group

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

The E-Bike Positive Trust Mark was discussed at a meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cycling & Walking, as industry and safety organisations highlighted progress and the need for further action on e-bike safety.

Jonathan Harrison, Director of the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT), spoke alongside the Bicycle Association at the meeting, which also featured contributions from Electrical Safety First, London Fire Brigade and Transport for London.

The discussion considered progress since the APPG’s 2025 e-bike safety report, while highlighting areas where action on unsafe and illegal products has been slower than hoped.

Mr Harrison said there was strong alignment among those involved and encouraging engagement from MPs, with a clear interest in taking the conversation further. He said: “It was great to see how aligned everyone in the room seemed to be and the level of engagement from MPs was really encouraging, with a genuine interest in taking the conversation further.

"The challenge now is to turn that consensus into practical action.”

A key development is that the Government has formally welcomed the E-Bike Positive campaign, with its consumer advice on purchasing electrically assisted pedal cycles now updated to refer to the campaign.

The update follows a question from Helen McGuire MP, with the Bicycle Association thanking officials and parliamentarians for helping to increase political and public awareness of E-Bike Positive in a recent LinkedIn post.

The E-Bike Positive campaign aims to help consumers identify quality, compliant e-bikes and trusted retailers, manufacturers and distributors, supporting wider efforts to address the risks associated with unsafe and illegal products.

Only approved E-bike Positive retailers can display the Trust Mark. If you haven’t signed up yet, join the growing network of retailers and brands committed to best practice, trusted products and safer e-bike retailing across the UK. View the retailer commitment and sign up by clicking here.
