Brexit: Update

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News , Political News

Brexit Last week there were a series of parliamentary votes relating to the UK's withdrawal from the EU.

  • The Prime Minister lost the second vote on her Withdrawal Agreement 391 to 242.
  • MPs voted to reject leaving the EU without a deal under any circumstances and won 312 to 308.
  • MPs voted for the government to seek an extension to Article 50 with 413 to 202. An extension must receive unanimous approval by the 27 EU states.

The Prime Minister will bring the Withdrawal Agreement to parliament again before the 20th of March. If the MPs approve the deal, the government will seek an extension to Article 50 until the 30th of June to pass the necessary legislation. If the deal is rejected, parliament will vote on an approach going forward and seek a longer extension.
