Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Bike Mechanic to join our established competent team - working within a spacious, well equipped and well stocked workshop facility.
The position is full time, working 5 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday 9-30 to 5-30 - there's no late night opening /shift work or rotation.
We also shut each day between 1pm and 1.30pm, to ensure you get a regular, uninterrupted lunch break.
Skills/Experience Required
You will be responsible for the repair and service of a wide range of bikes, as well as building new bikes for the shop floor. Experience with disc brakes, suspension forks and wheel building / repair is preferred, but not essential - as ongoing training is part of the job. Attention to detail and working methodically is above all the foundation to the right team member.
You must be self motivated, able to work in a team to manage the work load, help to plan your daily/weekly bookings and able to work to a high standard whilst completing your work within the required times. Help and advice is always available, but working autonomously, whilst making the right decision for the customer and the business is key. You will need to be able to calculate and price up your work accurately and keep the customer informed of progress and outcome at all times.
Excellent time keeping is essential, to ensure you arrive at work on time, take the breaks you are entitled to and complete your days work.
Experience in retail would be useful, as you will need to help with shop sales during busy periods. However a willingness to learn and a flexible approach is more important than the time you have historically spent in this environment.
